Marriott Vacation Club

Bob and I joined the Marriott Vacation Club. I'm so excited. Finally, my dream of being able to travel all over the states and the world just got a whole lot closer. We pay an annual dues and monthly payments--but in the long run, we will save money when we travel. The trips more or less will be paid for by the time we take our trips--rather than trying to save and have one big lump sum within a few months. We'll be staying at some fabulous hotels and will be able to do some cooking in our room, which will save on food costs--and calories, etc.

I'm so excited about this. Now, I really need to study my languages! I want to be able to speak to people around the world in their own language--even if it's only a few words.

starting my business

I'm starting my freelance writing business. I have all the tools I need to write--my brain, books, office equip. I have decided to get serious and get started submitting stories and articles for publication.

WALKIN' IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

Well, we don't get snow here often, but when we do, we seem to get a lot. Bob and I were supposed to drive to Takoma Park to see Shawn this morning but had to cancel because the snow started to fall Friday night and is supposed to keep on going until Sunday morning. If I was back in Michigan, it would be no big deal and everyone would go on with their plans like usual. But, this isn't Michigan and it doesn't work like that here. It takes a little longer to plow the roads and even when they do, they don't do a great job so it can still be pretty tricky to drive. In the end it's best to stay home or at least not travel too far. So, we called Shawn and told him we would wait until Sunday when it's done snowing and try it. We didn't feel like driving nearly two hours on slippery roads with people who don't know how to drive on the snow. (they think they do--but they don't)

Then Bob decided to go out and shovel some snow. It's the wet, heavy stuff -- of course the most difficult to shovel. He did that for a while then had to take a break.

When I was done getting showered/dressed we decided to walk to Wal-Mart. We had a few things to pick up and we still couldn't get our car out. The road was plowed, but our driveway was still buried.

So, we bundled up and headed on out. It wasn't too bad for walking. No sidewalks, but the cold air felt great and was very invigorating. Not too many cars out, so it wasn't too hard to get across the street.

The snow was at least a foot deep in some areas. By the time we got back home we were tired, but we felt much better. It was a great workout and I'm kind of glad we weren't able to get the car out.

Wal-Mart was pretty crowded for it being so snowy outside. I didn't expect that many people there.

After the walk I did some shoveling, then I put out food for the birds and squirrels, took some pictures and then hiked around the wood a little bit.

What a fun day it has been.
